Portland SharePoint User Group – August 2013 Event and Canned Food Drive

This month’s Portland SharePoint User Group will be a great combo of topics.  We will have a Taxonomy Management topic, and a live Build Session focusing on solutions for HR.  You got it right folks two great sessions that you can wrap your brains around.

We will be doing a Can Food Drive for the local Portland Food Bank, so bring your canned foods for entry.  I will remind you at the registration also. 🙂

Opening Announcements

We will discussing the status of our group, speaking opportunities, and a future SharePoint Hack-a-thon coming up, and a visit by Joel Olsen to our Portland group.

FirstTalk Speaker: Syed Qasim (CSG Pro)

    Title:  Crafting SharePoint Solutions for HR     Topic:  SharePoint Designer, and Microsoft InfoPath     Description:  SharePoint and its many tools can enable you to build various creative solutions for Human Resources, enabling them to better manage employee related documents and information. We will demo one such custom solution opening the door to the many possibilities of how to manage employee records and files.

Second Talk Speaker: Will DeSouza (WAND Inc.)

    Title:  DataFacet content management     Topic:  SharePoint, DataFacet taxonomy management     Description:  This session will drive the discussion around how taxonomies can be expanded, leveraging facet management, and using SharePoint as a true Content Management Solution.

Parking: Unfortunately we continue to be unable to provide parking validation.

Food and Beverages: Lunch will be provided by Digital MacGvyer and the Group – and as in previous months we need to get a headcount of how many folks will attend and want lunches.

Recording this Session: So we have tried a few times in the past to record the session, so once again this will have a camera handy.

As always meetings are FREE to attend and open to anyone interested in SharePoint.  We do ask if you want to donate to the User Group we are a non-profit so it is tax deductible.
